A friend of mine has an SRT-4 and wants to run my '94 Trans Am pretty bad. He's convinced he has the fastest car on the road. I'm not big into street racing all F&F style, but I wouldn't mind lining up at a red light with him sometime.
My car is stock, besides a full exhaust including supercomps, 3" y-pipe, and a Magnaflow catback. The intake manifold is stock with the stock tb, a TF ceramic intake elbow, stock maf, and K&N FIPK. I'm getting 3.73s installed on Monday.
Other mods:
+ PCMForLess mail order tune
+ !EGR
+ !AIR
+ !A/C (Bypass pulley installed)
+ 180* tstat
I'm sure there's more, but I can't remember anything significant. I'm hoping it'll run mid to high 13s in the 1/4. Last year with a magnaflow and fipk the car ran a disappointing 14.8.
His mods:
+ "Stage 2" Turbo
I don't think it's the Mopar Stage 2 kit, just the stage 2 turbo upgrade. I know nothing of SRT4's, so I'm assuming it's making under 250whp. It is also a 5 spd, the TA is an A4.

With just turbo upgrades I would think he would experience a decent amount of turbo lag...? I would need a better defined mod list for the SRT-4. Also if he just slapped a bigger turbo on there, I assume he would have fuel issues without upgrading injectors too...?

You would take him Harner, but it would be a close race. I believe they were underrated from the factory and also weigh only 2900 lbs. If all he has is the turbo, he isn't seeing too much of a hp increase over stock. Race him from a stop where your 3.73's and A4 will help you edge him out.

depends on if he can hook up. They can run high 13's in stock trim with a good driver.

Well, thats interesting, b/c as far as i know, the "stage 2" setup doesn't have a new turbo... The stage 3 is where a new turbo comes...
My best friend used to have a SRT-4 with the mopar Stage 2 kit... he ran a best of 13.01... Usually he ran dead even with my '94 T/A, but my T/A went 13.5@105 on a 2.2 60' on bald street tires... Which makes sense, b/c that's good for about a 13.0 if it hooks .... I'd usually jump just my front fender on him from a roll or stop, and then we'd hold dead even til about 100...
Stock with just an exhaust, he ran a 13.9 in his SRT4.... From the sounds of it, the guy doesnt know what he's talking about, b/c stage 2 doesnt hvae a new turbo.... (unless something has changed over the last 2 years - if so, i'm sorry)
Give it a shot... !

Depends on the year of the SRT-4, after 03 I believe they had larger injectors that could handle more boost. My buddy has one running 450hp. They are definately a fast car, and they are all stick(except one that was changed over for drag racing). I know my buddy has his running 11's, but without stickies the things don't hook, and without upgraded motor mounts, and suspension work, they wheel hop like a bitch if they spin in the least. I think it would be a close race. If you had a stall I think you would kill him.

Thanks guys. He just told me a stage 2 turbo. I understand they have stage 2 and stage 3 packages available from Mopar, so I don't know. I doubt he knows. I am trying to get him to drag it at Beaver Springs with me in a week, but he probably has to work. I will definitely post the results if anything ever goes down.

if he's convinced he has the "fastest car on the road" with just a stage 2 turbo upgrade he hasnt been out much. at the very best it'll be a close race if you dont run away from him off the line.

Any kind of power upgrade is gonna cause HORRIBLE torque steer, although it has lots of this stock. I drove a Neon SRT-4 with a larger turbo, and it tried to rip the wheel outta my hands everytime I went past half throttle... He's gonna have his hands full...

Hey harner ever do the lt4 knock module in that car? 14.8 seems a little slow for those mods. Talk to phantoms on here his car started out in the same area and now is down to 13.5's spinning bad off the line. You pretty much have the same mods, except he doesnt have 3.73's

Not yet, when I got it tuned I remember reading why I should get one but never got to it.

14.8 is kinda slow for those mods and I don't see picking up a second from what you have listed. Are you sure your car is 100%? maybe you have a plug wire going? If you were in the 13.9-14.2 area (which is where I see your supposed to be) I'd think you'd have shot, but I've seen stock SRT's with good tires go into the 13.7's. Find out more info on what the stage 2 is and report back, seems like he is being kinda squirrly about what's under his hood.

I ran a 13.9 with full exhaust, lt4 km, and the gears in June. The car's been sitting pretty much ever since. As of right now it's not 100% so I haven't had a chance to really see what he's got. This thread just reminded me to ask him though lol. Thanks for bumping it.

id say thisrace is gonna come down to 1 thing, who can hook the best in the first 60', these suckers are veryquick depending on how they are set up i have beat a few and got whupped by a couple, i would say remove as much weight aspossible that he cant see, but try and add a little to the rear end if you can, it sounds tough but ithink the moreyou squat the more youll grab n go, keep us posted. u should win, but.............

On second thought, I really don't think you'll have a problem Harner with the mods you have. I raced a newer Cobalt SS a few days ago (temp. stickers still on it) and beat him by two car lengths and my car is basically stock. However, he started to inch his way up to me at 100+ but the race was over by then.. I need some topend! :x
